Pastor Bart Simpson
Bart Simpson is an Associate Pastor at MIPortlandNaz. He is a graduate of Eastern Nazarene College with a B.A. in Communications. He worked the majority of his life in the Criminal Justice field. Additionally, Bart has served in Student Ministry for more than thirty years–as a Youth Pastor, Sunday School teacher, camp counselor and speaker. Bart is a “utility player” who can be plugged in anywhere. He has currently stepped up his game and is teaching 3rd-5th grade Sunday School each week (YIKES!). He also works with the media team, fills in with Youth Group and Children’s Church when needed, and preaches when called upon.
Bart has always believed in serving in whatever capacity his church needs, something he was taught by his youth leader when he started attending a Nazarene church in middle school. His favorite passage is Romans 12:1-2.
Bart married Pastor Lynn on New Year’s Eve 1995, and they have two sons. Their oldest, Jalon, married Shelby on New Year’s Day 2021, giving Bart and Lynn a grandson, Kashton, who is two and a half years old. In November 2024, they were blessed with twins, Lila & Brooklyn. Since graduating college, Bart has spent most of his free time coaching basketball and track, has coached both his sons, and is “finishing up” his career coaching his youngest son, Noah, who throws the javelin and discus at Cleary University.
